This image was actually inspired by a dream I had several years ago, during which I witnessed a trailer for the as yet unreleased third episode of the Star Wars saga. It is Ben Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker's famous duel, supposedly the event which will cause Anakin's severe injuries which lead him to become the cyborg Darth Vader. Whether this scene will ever come to pass in the film is unknown, but it was clearly inspired by speculation both in fan circles as well as Expanded Universe sources which reveal hints of the already famous swordfight.
An assortment of images were used; A scan from an issue of the Tales of the Jedi comic book, stock photos of the planets and the lava erupting, as well as the lightsaber blades made in Photoshop. The structure with the glowing columns was also created in Photoshop, based on various images of Star Wars technology.
